Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health & Safety Specialist with a deep understanding of the education sector.
This remote role, which allows the successful candidate to work from home or suitable premises, involves conducting health and safety audits, preparing health and safety statements, drafting risk assessments, and managing health and safety in collaboration with our clients and their safety committees.
This role requires nationwide travel to attend sites, as well as online follow-ups with clients to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health and safety audits at educational institutions nationwide.
- Prepare detailed health and safety statements and reports based on audit findings.
- Draft thorough risk assessments for various scenarios within the educational environment.
- Follow up with clients online to discuss audit findings, recommendations, and necessary actions.
- Work closely with clients and their safety committees to manage and improve health and safety standards.
- Provide guidance and support to educational institutions in implementing and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations, including the Guidelines produced by the Health & Safety Authority for Primary and Post Primary Schools.
- Provide training and awareness sessions to staff and students as required.
- Collaborate with other professionals, both internally and externally, to ensure a coordinated approach to health and safety management.
- Continuously update knowledge on health and safety regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety management, with a preference for experience in the education sector.
- Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations, including the Guidelines produced by the Health & Safety Authority for Primary and Post Primary Schools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel nationwide as required.
- A valid driver’s licence.
Location
- Remote, with nationwide travel required.
